    Brumby's brings bream

Nugg's and I set out for another bream session this morning and things looked hopeful, with the best weather we'd had for some time; no rain and ....light winds .

We decided to hit up twin waters this time as a change from noosa or kawana and we were at our first spot just after sunrise. Plenty of bait around, including herring and the tiny shrimp that seem to love twinnies. We started off on poppers and despite three hits on one retrieve of nugg's, we couldn't connect with a fish.

After a few more unfruitful locations we changed to plastics and despite an increased interest from the fish, we just couldn't break the day's duck. We had two or three jetties where the fish happily darted out, sniffed and prodded our lures but just wouldn't finish the job. Each time we tried to add a twitch or a movement to our lures they bolted back to cover and could not be coaxed out to play again.

Finally, the call was made that frustration had won and it was clear the lures just weren't going to cut it today. Out came the old loaf of brumby's bread and we finally landed a couple of fish each as time quickly ran out. One spot in particular was teeming with bream of a range of sizes (see pic below) but the minute the hooked bread was cast in they went to cover and it took quite a bit of deception for us each to drag a fish out.

Despite the fish not playing, was still nice being out on the water again after a two week hiatus (far too long). We're assuming it was just the bright weather that made the bream so spooky, but we're sure they'll still be there next time

I still love fishing for bream with unweighted bread crusts on the surface. Well done
