went out this morning for a while , left from the little jetty and headed out the front we saw the yellow coats out there getting some bananas but we did not cast for long and went out the front of the pool for a while looking for some taylor . Got a big hit on a pilly pulled it in and it was a lemon shark (i think) about 4ft little bugger nearly bit me a few times , jeremy (my son ) thought it was funny , than i got a taylor about 33cm and not mucch after that . There was birds feeding but there was only bait fish and nothing else chasing them so we went into cabbage tree creek to flick a few placcies around got another taylor that was about 40cm and jeremy got a 29cm bream after that we got nothing but about 10000 herring in the cast net in 1 throw . all in all it was a nice morning out on the water and we got a feed for tonight , ill post the pics later on .
May I say, the best part of the day must be spending father/son time with your boy. My wife is pregnant at the moment and I'm secretly hoping our first will be a boy so we can have days like you had today.
The fishing is great - but the nothing could beat the family stuff mate.
yeah mate its great , the only problem is he normally out fishes me so does my daughter be she doesnt like going out for to long so its normally just me and jeremy .
Nice work Nico, I have found going out in the evening has been better for the tailor around those spots. Also try a few different baits, you might be surprised what works.
Its good to see the kids out having a good time instead of playing virtual fishing on the Nintendo.
rig dude , i used to go wading out the front of the pool years ago and we always waited for a low tide on dark so we could walk out to the last sand bank ( before it starts dropping off ) and fish an hour before and and hour after dark and soon as the sun went down it would be 1 after the other ( fish ) , we have gone through a block of pillies there in half an hour before , i stopped doing it when i saw a 10ft glow ( from the phosforous(spelling?) come past us , but now that i have a boat i want to have ago at it at again .
Well we went out for a couple off hours trolling out the front for taylor and didnt have much luck but on the way back we got near the peir and my rod went off , i thought this must be a good taylor and then found out it was a big catfish , while i was unhooking the catty jeremy hook up useing a feather jig it was a good size taylor that spat the hooks at the side off the boat , so i told him to drop it back in and when he brought it up there were about 6 45-50cm chasing it up , unfortunatly we didnt get any nor did we see them again . The water was so nice out there today and the kids had a good time .
heres a photo of the kids Attachment 24865
notice how rough it was when the wind picked up
Great report mate and some good fish!! I got another one of them sharks at mud Sunday with an old fishing mate of mine. I believe they are blind sharks now after having a read of Grants they do look very much like the tawny though.
cheers
Brandon..
PS: wanta line up an arvo during the week to launch from cabbage tree creek for Taylor??
