hi the last 4 days i have been living it up at caloundra, the place i stayed is called (i hope i have spelt this right) La Promenade, its a great complex situated right on the end of the boardwalk. Thank god my mum isn't as tight as my dad and she payed the extra to get the fishing unit . Ok now for the part everyone wants to hear.
FISHING
first day started off pethetic with no fish being caught both day or night. My sister enjoyed catching the crabs with my old soft plastics which was pretty funny should could bring them up but she didn't want to touch them . she was shocked when i said don't catch the eel. ok ot the real fishing. the second day was pretty pethetic with only 3 bream going just legal on plastics and a damsel fish. the rig i used was a patternoster with 1 hook having a prawn and the second a atomic prong. the funny thing was with one of my bream i nearly got rubbed off on 2 lb when it ran up a little creek brushing against the rock and only losing the lead on the bottom. the next day noce again starting boring only 2 bream caught in five hours then after that long wait incomes a silver drummer being very fat and measuring 30cm to the fork. ok if i have got these days right the next pick up quite nicely we pulled a few bream early on plastics and unweighted squid then moved to the jetty at about 7 we got there and i forgot a rod so i raced back while i was gone one of the 7 locals managed to hook a nice queenfish about 70cm it turned and snapped his line right at the jetty. once again i ran to get the bait jigs to get a live pike for my mate because its kinda dumb using a big livey on my 2-4kg t-curve or my 1-2kg custom made rod. As i got back another local had a metre plus flathead on his line just as i go tthere i was able to see the line go ping and i saw it swim away (these locasl know there stuff). had a big walk of 30m to get back inside and eat breakfast. got back and another very nice local that taught us how to fish and what to use had a nice bream about 27cm and a 65cm flathead. Went to a little jetyy fished there i pulled a nice cod and my mate a small bream. we went and bought some pillies. to the boardwalk for some fun on the light gear bang straight away a nice legal bream engulfed the pilly and i brang it in and threw him back UNFORTUNATELY i got some yelling at because the other guys could of kept it. nothing the rest of the arvo at night managed to pull this very very fat bream that went 32cm and pulled like a trevally. fished thsi moring untill 9 and got 1 bream and had to check out by 11 back home and relaxed and now to have some food other than take away. also i thought i should say thanks to the Staff at Tripcony Quays for tying my mates castnet on we got it off the oyster covered rocks and it was ruined, thanks you anyway
regards,
keechie
