    Bicep Blast

    Gday folks,

havn't been doing much with the barra lately so when IanK (former Brissy boy) called me to say the GT's were thick I had to see for myself.
School hol's meant the 2 young lads were with me and I met Ian at Larrakea for the 100m run out to our spot.
1st up decided to troll up the young lads there 1st arm breakers and the eldest took the lead with a nice Golden landed on the 1st pass. Dispatched this fella into the well for the neighbour and 2nd pass they both hook up to what locals up here would call reasonable fish.
20 minutes later and 4 very sore arms up come a couple of GT's up to 10lb. They were pretty much nackered then so Ian and I did the honours next. Everyone knows I hate to troll so we found a patch on the sounder and dropped our flukes to the bottom for double hookups on more GT's.
Ian bugged out within the hr and I kept going for another half hr landing more fish in quick succession on the spin stick. Only used 16lb so they were great tussles and I pulled up sore within 45minutes.
Let the lads take Shrek for a run on a glassed out harbour and back at the ramp for a total of less than 2 hrs on the water and I'm guessing $2 in fuel.
Prolly landed around 20GT's all released in the 10-15lb range. Biggest around 90cm. That's the territory for ya fellas.
And to think I took off with my tail between my legs when the Jack fishing just got too tough for me. Thank god for everyone the smallunit is still dominating em eh.
    Now, tomorrow I'm thinking......................Barra burgers!

    Cheers,

    Rich

So Rich, the fishing is a bit ordinary up there, a. Those boys of yours will never be able to live in Brisbane after being up there doing things like that. maybe U should send the to board at Uncle Units place before they get spoilt.

    Cheers mate.

Yeh mate, it was funny to see the 2 young fellas give it in after 2 fish. They hurt bad. I took over from the eldest on one of the bigger boys.
I even changed up leader later on but in the end I'm still using a 3000 Sol.
Funny thing was I started with the Sol 2000 and had one screaming run only to pull the hooks.
Needless to say the 2000 never came back out for the trip!
The S10 held up great and was ideal for spinning em up on rubbers.
    Cheers,

    Richie

Mate, they already know all there is to know about handlines, they grew up in the Torress Stright.
Anyways, they'll have all the fun they want on handlines come Sunday. I'm looking for Jewies that day.

Good stuff Richieboy, that would have been a top session, love those Trevally.

Sorry to disappoint, but there's no way those GT's are in the 10-15 kg bracket.
    Pound maybe, but not kilo.

    Cheers Jeff.

    Re: Bicep Blast

Very nice fish Rich but agree with the other boys....No where near 10-15kg.

Are the GT's in the territory the same as the Big oceanic ones...???

They look like a different species...and always have yellowish fins etc...
