Brake dust on Telwater powder coated Rims

Can anybody please help me with an easy way to remove the build up of brake dust from the powder coated white rims on my Quintrex trailer? i have tried the ussual mag wheel cleaners that foam up but these seem to just dissolve to a watery solution without loosening up the black stuff covering the rim!

    Thanks for any help.

    Mate WD40 would do it

never had any real drama, unless it is left on for ages, normally a wash when the Boat is done is enough to get it off, or maybe a bit of a brush with a Nylon brush when washing if it is stubborn.

    G'day

Quick Clean from car groomers, spray on, leave for 5 mins then high pressure clean off.

Always works for me, unless the brake dust had eaten and damaged the powdercoat finish

Degreaser & water mixture in a spray bottle works for me (on the same wheels). Ratio depends on what strength degreaser it is & how stubborn the grime is. Just don't use degreaser in your tin boat.
    cheers

use the same method every time I use the boat. Scrub with a dust pan brush to get into the corners

Yeah Captain, good one, forgot to mention that a brush & a little 'elbow grease' is needed too. I haven't found that magical "no effort" cleaner yet either

Well if there are no magical no effort cleaners best i put the grease gun into the elbow. Having done a long trip the dust build up is pretty bad and the cleaners i use on the car dont work on the boat. thanks for the help lads

Pub, sounds like you are getting above average wear. Is it a new rig? Or new brake pads? Do your rims get hot? What's your cable tension like, and/or have you broken a retainer spring?
    cheers

If you havent already, give Meguiars 'Non Acid Wheel Cleaner' a try. It's another spray on - hose off product but seems to work better than most. If it's built up pretty bad just give them a scrub before hosing off.

If it is still hard to get off with all the fan-dango cleaners, try cleaning them and applying a good quality polish.
The polish will stop the build up somewhat, and make it easier to wash the build up off. Best off to keep the build up to a minimum.

its a new trailer only about 1000ks old. i had it back to the dealer because the brakes didnt seem to be working properly. they greased everything on the trailer (you would think that would be done in the four weeks between deposit payed and delivery) then once i got it back the break dust can sprung a leak all over the rims. its at the dealer now for a 20hr service. hopefully theyll give em a clean ha ha ha i wish
