Cooking on pocelain
Bought a portable BBQ that has poreclain coated cast iron plates and grill etc. How does this coating stack up against other ones for taste and how best to look after it if anyone knows about this stuff.
Never cooked on this surface before.
thanks fnq

Re: Cooking on pocelain
Gday fnq, i have never heard of the porcelin coating before. but then i never heard of enamal coating either until i tried it, and it didn't make a blind bit of difference to the taste of food.
so with that sudden strike of wisdom mate, i dont think you will have any worries.

Re: Cooking on pocelain
I have a pocelain plate on the bbq at home. No taste or anything like that, just like a normal plate, only a bit easier to clean. Also meant to be able to put it through the dishwasher, though I have never tried it (would get rid of any flavour the plate did have )

Thanks Blokes for the replies, I have gotten used to it now, only found out it was a coating when I went ot burn all of the enamel paint off the plates, couldn't at the time work out why they would paint them
Yeah it works real well I think, pretty tough and tastes good also.
cheers fnq

I've got a grill with the enamel surface. You'll find it cleans easy, try a bit of BBQ cleaner and then with a high pressure cleaner and grill comes up like new every time.
Mine's on a Webber Q
