    Fishing the rock wall tonight

    HI all,

Tinking of going out and fishing the rock wall on mooloolaba spit tonight, any recomendations as to what to target an where along the wall would be much appreciate. Thinking of drifting a few deadbaits, pillies etc for flathead on the inside of the wall around those sandy areas, basically angling for any kind souls who might want to share some local knowledge! Cheers all happy fishing.

The rock wall generally producessome decent bream and the odd flathead. It can turn it on sometimes after rain for good jewfish too on big livies with a run out tide. This time of the year isn't as good as it gets as the season hasn't kicked into gear yet. The first of the westerlies with a temp drop generally kicks it off there for bigger fish.

Tonight I would be fishing with whole gar under a torpedo float and trying the edges of the main current flow at the mouth for tailor, they should be lurking around now. Guys are getting very good catches this week down at Wooyung in northern NSW. I dropped a huge one last weekend at Scarby reef as well. The guys are getting the tailor on gar down the coast and pillies are not getting a look at this week. If i was to catch a tailor around 20-25cm it would be going straight back out as a livebait for a jewie.

    Jack.

I've seen people using bait jigs to get pike right up near the mouth on the north wall. One of them floated as a livey would be an idea.
