Hi Guys,
The missus and i are wanting to go camping from April24-2May we live in Gladstone.Have a hilux and a 4mtr stacer. We are ste up for camping. What we prefer is some where there is fresh water or are able to obtain,we dont mind paying fees.anywhere along the coast is good.We used to camp at Norval Park but the council has stopped this. I have spoken to the lady at the store at yandarin and she said it is on the local counciller top list to get it reopened.
Thanks for any help Garry &Karen
Depends how far you want to go Baffle creek has a good camping ground (Baffle Bobs) and pretty good fishing all depends how far go want to go Baffles only about 1.5-2hr away or head north around the Mackay region a bit longer of a drive though.
HI Gladdys,
Thanks for the response ,did think about baffles put read a post on it and sounds pretty rough on your prop just got the new tinnie and a bit sort of playing it safe .We are willing to travel to tville or further so no prob in distance.
Thanks again Garry
Hi Mate, Have you heard of Molongle? It's a small caravan park halfway between Ayr and Bowen. The turnoff is just south of Gumlu. There is an excellent boat ramp and pontoon setup and it gives you access to Upstart Bay and Cape Upstart. So long as the winds are SE to NE it's pretty protected. I you get 10 to 15 knot winds you'll be able to get right out to the Cape and the fishing can be pretty good in the bay and around the headlands. There can be sandflies at the caravan park.
G'day mate, If you don't mind a bit of a trek then you could try Leslie Dam just outside Warwick. The water level has risen with the rain we had a while back and there are plenty of yellow belly on the bite. Facilities are good and the rates are cheap. Also, there are no set camp sites so you can spread out as much as you want.
mate have a google search for seaforth just north of mackay. there is a council campground well maintained.if you do i search on ausfish someone posted some pics recently. 10 minutes from here you have cape hillsborough n.p which it pretty nice. you can stay there but i believe the sandies can be fierce. from seaforth its 3 mins to victor ck ramp which opens up into st helens bay. you can fish here in pretty much any wind. a 22 min drive on a dirt road takes you to the top of murray ck which also has good fishing. its a pretty special spot. at seaforth itself through the week you may well have the 5km beach to yourself. thars how we found it anway.there is some photos of the beach on the site of the house we stay at. just search seaforth beachhouse for a look...
