    Smile Savage

    Hi,
Anyone know or heard anything about Savage runabouts? Good or bad? I have only looked at the pics on the web, and have noticed that the runabout series has the anchor bay sort of added on. i am assuming that it is a glass bay. they claim to use only stainless fixtures etc, but am a bit dubious about the anchor bay leaking one day.

if all you have to worry about is a leaky anchor Well during your Boating life, then you are a very lucky guy/girl/person, Savage have been making Boats of one kind or another for a long time now, so I guess they should have it sorted out (perhaps)

    Good day,
Savage would have to be in the top echelon of boat manufactures in this country. They have been making both fg and allys out of Victoria for decades.
One of the best. Have a look on the water and count the number of old Savages you see still going strong (hull).

    Re: Savage

Savage have been around for over 100 years,

Godd quality build, and all the ally boats do have SS as do the FG Boats, unlike most ally boats whom have ally rails etc, Savage have genuine SS fittings etc and there finish in my opinion is superior to any other ally manufacturer, there glass boats are great to look at too.

I should know I brought a brand new Savage 4.8m Ranger runabout brand new then upgraded to a Cruise Craft later to get a bigger boat.

If you need any info feel free to message me or post a reply.

yes hey are an extremely stable and strong boat! i used to own one, and i still would have owned it if it wasnt stolen! so someone else must have thought it was ok also! i never had problems with leaking anchor well! mine was 1980 model fibreglass 16ft runabout! had a 55hp johnson on it! and we took that thing everywere! handled the rough stuff really well! i would buy another given the chance again!

    Re: Savage

Savage a good brand? I don't think so. My little Savage 12ft tinny tender 1965/66 model sprung a leak last year. Okay, so it was a little pin hole but that's not so great for a boat that's only 41 years old.

They were great,in the past ,so I dont see why that would have changed. My brother has a 1980 Savage Pacific. What a great looking boat, even today.Built like a brick dunny.

No, Reidy the transom is welded. Seats are riveted though. I cannot believe how strong it is and it has had a dreadful life with me. No chance of her becoming a family heirloom - no one else would be seen dead in it.

    Now there's an idea Reidy!

I'd mention it to my wife but she is always giving policy guidance to God and might be able to arrange the use of the Savage dinghy well before my due time.
