I would be surprised if you haven't fished it already Keechie!
I see plenty of Ausfishers regularly working their way up the canals past our place on the leccys casting lures around the pontoons. Plenty of big mullet live under and around the pontoons as well.
The big bream are pretty cagey, they did not get that size by luck! When I am of a mind, I have been know to "feed them up" for a week or two on bread and then on the right tide introduce a few bread baits in and around their haunts. Can be very explosive fishing!
It is amazing what lives in the canals. When we first moved here we lived in one of the original sections which had the oldest canals. I regularly saw huge GTs herding mullet and hunting in there. Tried to hook them but they were far too cagey. a lot of fun though as they "shouldered" the poppers I spun at them.
We even caught Mack Tuna off the pontoons! Would not have believed it if I had not seen it first hand a couple of times.
And there are plenty of big Jacks and Cod, plus some huge Pike eels in there too.
Cheers
Dave
