Yesterday i was a bit crook in the morning so i had a sickie ,about 8.00am i came good so i thought i would recouperate out on the bay and check out a new spot i was given ,well low and behold i caught a very unusual catch for the bay a coral trout not quit to size but very close so he went back ,also caught a few snapper best went 45 cm anyway here is a piccy of the little devil i hope you enjoy matt...............

    That looks more like a Coral Cod to me BF59;

    The convex tail gives it away, trout have a concave tale.

    Not sure on the Trevally?

    Cheers

    The Trevally looks like it might be either a juvenile Big Eye or maybe a White Trevally, my money is on the Big Eye.

    Easy to confuse them BF, you would not be the first by a long way. And just as unusual a catch as a Trout in the bay. The have the same legal limits as Trout too, but they only grow to 41cm according to the web link I put up, so the limit is there to protect them for others that mistake them for Trout I would say.

    Sickie eh? On a Monday eh? Conveniently coming good by early morning enabling you to take the boat out eh? I hope your boss isn't an Ausfisher or "YOU'RE FIRED!" Seriously that is one beautiful looking fish for the bay. Not often you see something quite that red coming out of that area. I may have to do a bluefin59 and chuck a sickie on a Monday too.
