Hey mate was up there over easter when the comp was on we got some good fingermark, grunter, cod, blue and king salmon and a few small barra. we were in the boat though. ive heard fishing off the wharf is as good a spot as any. also u can fish off the bridge just out of town its good for barra at night time. there is also out near escott barra lodge. good landbased for barra out there. above and below the weir. apparently there is a track that takes you to the nicholson river but i think it is across the sand flats and i imagine the track wouldnt be too good. anyway there is some very good fishing to be had up there where ever you go. oh by the way as your driving to the boat ramp u will come to some causeways, lots of mullet around them for bait. hope this helps.

    Scott,

The Causeway near Escott Lodge would be a good starting point, both upstream and downstream of it. Take the road towards Doomadgee and there is a turn off on your right hand side (well signed).

I have never really had much luck off the whalf only caught catfish, but there are heaps of tracks out on the flats out there that all lead to the river, there are some good spots there. (Keep an eye out for the Morning Glory out there, great sight if you ever get to see one).
    Where are you staying?

    Enjoy your time there.

    Fez
