Ormiston Reef
I have been kayak fishing off shallow grounds at Raby Bay, Cleveland.
Getting some sweet lip, small snapper and cod.
I have heard of a reef off Ormiston that is in paddling distance.
Has anyone got any idea where it is?
I see its been mentioned in other posts but no precise location was given.
Can anyone help?
Thanks for your info.

Re: Ormiston Reef
Hi Anthony,
there a few patches of reef off Ormiston. Have a look at Google Earth and you can see the reef structures. I have attached a snapshot and marked the 2 main areas.
There are also some underwater pylons in close near the bottom of the larger reef structure. Weightless baits float over on the top of the reefs around high tide will get plenty of Grassies in season.
Cheers

Re: Ormiston Reef
Anthony, I have fished that area for a long, long time - I was there yesterday and again today where I got 3 small snapper (all undersize). Go about 10 metres west of the Ormiston port beacon and you are at the eastern edge of that reef.
Hope this helps
Neil
