Planning nerang river trip

Im planning of going out to the nerang river in my tinny this sunday 6th April and am TRYING (Struggling) to plan my trip now, these are my plans:

-Launch boat at about 6-7 (Taking only worms and lures)
-Go to the council chambers to try catch some whiting If im catching some ill stay for about 1-2 hrs unless there thick ill stay all day.
-If not catchin any, move to out front of TSS and try for some more whiting.
- After this i want to try using only lures for the first time
- im planning going to the isle of capri rockwall with H/B and S/P lures as ive been told about this spot.

Does this sound like a good start?????

Also, I dont think i have enough spots if say i catch nothin at all of these....any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.....

INFO:im only fishing around these areas as im only 15 so only allowed to drive a 6HP legally and cant travel large distances.

personally i have not fished this area but what you said sounds fine also try throwing a sx40 or other small minnow shaped lure over little sand banks or small drop offs, i thought i should comment as no-one else has.

well it does sound like a good plan althoug last time we went fishin we caught a total of 0 though we should go pik up a few more lures and go around the spots you menchined. also we should go look for a flatty or some trevally.

Yeh, it sounds gd, Us going fishing this sunday catching heaps......



I was thinking....Maybe trying up around some of the mangroves near Jupiters Casino and Pac Fair....but u have to go 6Knots the whole way ... anyone fished up round there before....got any results????

Dylan you dont say at what ramp your putting your boat in.
Here are some suggestions.
Use isle of capri boat ramp it is central to were you want to go.
At this time of year i would not go any further downstream than the chambers for whiting as it is to late in the season.
The area between the chambers and the green beacon south of the isle of capri bridge has been good latley.
Try the rock wall near isle of capri bridge on top of tide with your lures .
The first hour of the run out try the southern side of the red beacon at the chambers for your whiting.

Sorry Youngy, Im launching my tinny from my house in Sorrento, its on a canal so that should be quick and easy, thanks for all the other info, You know when u fish for whiting ...what kind of rig do u use??? a small sinker, long light trace and long shank hook??? or something more technical then that???? I know your THE MAN to be asking about whiting Youngy!

Were only taking worms and Lures on this trip, try something different,

When using the worms youngy, what rig do u use?? Light setup? Small sinker? Long light trace? Long Shank?? Do u use the red tube above the hook, becos i kno this has been used for Whiting b4?

Dylan i usualy only target whiting and don't go down behind the casino much but there are whiting in that stretch of river between the boat ramp and the casino you are a chance of catching bream,trevaly,jacks and cod along any rock walls in this area.
I made a mistake in my last bit of advice it should read.

Is this red marker the one that is also the start of the 6Knot section?

GCC, if the fish aren't biting, use the opportunity to explore new areas and try casting in areas that you wouldn't normally consider fishy. You might be suprised. Remember this...it may take a few outings before you catch a single fish on lures, but when you do, it will be more rewarding than all the fish you have caught on bait. Anyone can drop a prawn down and luck on to a fish, but using your skills to work an artificial and get a hookup is an unbeatable feeling. Keep trying. Its worth your time.

Thanks Tetsuo, i will try new areas as often as i can, hopefully the fish are always biting so i dont need to though, lol! im sure they'll be times when there not! thankz !

They area around the casino holds heaps of bream and a few jacks and trevally. Work the rock walls in the area with some lures like sx40's, SP's and don't discount surface lures too. I have been getting a fair amount of bream off the surface in that area recently.
