    tinny trailers

    Hi all,
I'm after a new trailer for my Stessco 3.75m tinny. Now the thing is I want to tow this thing up to Weipa later in the year and I'm wondering if an 'off the shelf' trailer is going to be up to the job. Does anyone recommend a good trailer I or do you think I'd be better off getting a custom trailer made?
What sort of specs should the trailer have?
    Thanks for any advice.

    p.s. I'm in Townsville.

i have a trailer for sale, it has been driven from townsville to innisfail, brand new, i just bought a camper trailer. it is an 07' model, 13inch wheels, spose it is off the shelf model. trailer is solid and i think it would suit what you are doing. I paid $1500 for it 6 months ago, chasing $1000. i can send photos if your interested.

It came out from a 4.2m quintrex, so it will be a bit bigger which would probally suit you better.

I have recently purchased two Dunbier Trailers and been very happy with the quality of the trailer. I have no doubt they are up to the task. You get a full galvinized trailer including wheels and springs and the wheels are standard Holden stud patterns so finding spares is easy and also replacing hubs is a cinch. If you are interested I paid $1220 registered for them but am sure they may have gone up since I bought them.

You need big wheels for clearance and the boat weight must be all on the keel so a full skid is what how need. You could get a standard HD trailer with big wheels and add a skid for the trip.

I've seen the real old Quintrex taken up the cape with rollers only but the majority use a full length skid under the keel

Hey Mate - You're better off speaking to the manufacturers(Dunbier/Belco/etc) and provide them with exactly the conditions you expect to encounter - That way, if the trailer you purchase falls to pieces, you at least have some recourse.
