    Fishing Front or back?

    Hi Fisho's
I need to understand the fishing of bombies and shoals a little better. When the tide is coming in against a bombie is it this front side where the monster fish or small fish hang out?, or is it the backside when the water is flowing over?

I would reckon that when the tide goes out do the fish change to the other side?

Shoals, fishing the front, back, or top of the shoalmost productive?

Some of your views would be priceless about postioning the boat, with tide direction running, and shoal ediquette

    Thanks

I like to fish on the down current side of a bombie and if there is any wash coming off the bombieI position my boat where I can fish in the wash. I find preditors like to hunt bait in the confusion of the wash. As for ediquette try not to anchor right in someones burly trail and don't anchor right on top of someone else and no one should throw sinkers at ya.
As for shoals for me that depends on how your boat is gunna hang but I prefer to fish the edges sometimes this means anchoring on the leading edge or top and letting your line drift back over the shoal. If your gunna fish right below the boat I would try to anchor so your boat hangs around the edge of the shoal.

Hey Mark, if you talk to the trout boys off Gladstone and the swains they'll tell you to fish the flow on which is the up current side, you only get crap on the flow off - sweetlip etc, if you call that crap.

Personally I fish DI mostly and find the flow on, or top of the bommie the best. In saying that the gravel to the side for snapper is also worth getting excited about.

Give both a try where you fish and see how you go is my best advice.

As Craig said, the pro Trout guys look for the pressure points on the reefs. When diving I have seen a lot of pelagics in front or to the sides of reef edges
