    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

They seem to be the same shape as a thready, dad caught a 101cm one and it was just on 9kg's. So id probably put that at between 9 and 10kg.
    cheers.

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

Maybe 5-6kg little over that? I caught one that was 24kg and it was about 130cm long nice fish all the same.

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

I've weighed a lot of cobia during light line touraments and your fish looks to me to be around 5kgs. This is probably the best eating size. Larger fish tend to be a bit average.

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

You need a length to weight conversion table - this one is for flathead. Haven't seen one for cobia, but one for fish like yellowtail kings with similar proportions should be pretty close. I'll keep looking when I get the chance

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

If you go to this link

    http://fishbull.noaa.gov/05franks.pdf

there is a graph showing weight to length ratios for cobia from the Gulf of Mexico. It suggests that a 106cm fish would be between about eight to twelve kilos, but your fish doesn't look quite that big. They may have fatter fish in America (not surprising). My guess would be about 6 or 7 kilos

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

Iwould have to say 5-6kg, dosnt look overly fat which is were cobia get most of
there weight, not to say they dont get long bet they are a bulky fish,
    Good feed anyway,
    cheers,

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

    Yeah, I'd guess 7.5kg.
Personally I prefer the smaller sizes to eat, yours is just about perfect!

    Re: Cobia Weight Estimate

    Hey,

I reckon i got his twin brother a month or so ago, was surprised it only weighed
6kg, looked heavier in the ice box. Somewhere between 5.5-7.0kg.
