Decided to give Tinaroo a miss this weekend and head back to our old patch, Koombooloomba dam. The dam has risen an astonishing amount; the water has managed to reach the top of the dam wall now. The weather was less than perfect with light showers persisting throughout the day as well as an annoying fog making navigation near impossible. After some GPS troubles we eventually made it up to the Tully River which seemed to go on for miles. We followed the creek until finally reaching a beautiful area and some rapids, we persisted casting for no action. We slowly drifted back down stream and dad managed and alright sized sooty. We continued down stream for a few hours, hooking up to a couple of smaller sooty’s before dad and I got a double hook up from the same snag, dad’s was only small but mine, although not pulling as much drag as expected, was about 43cm. after a few more little ones we decided to head home just as the rain came.
