    12 Mile

Left Mooloolaba at 2am yesterday morning with myself and two mates. Perfect trip out to the 12 mile. The first drop on a likely looking spot and we had a double header on a nice grassy and a snapper. Absolutely no current and the fish just kept coming on board. The final tally was 5 grassys 5 snapper 10 parrot a couple of good fingermark, 1 nice cod and 2 morwong (perect for when the inlaws come around for a barby). The day just kept getting better but we ran out of bait so headed back in around 8am. Trolled a few skirts around on the way back but although seeing tuna didn,t get any strikes would have loved a few macks for the next bottom bashing session. After reading all this hype about the chooks spent about 30 mins working one while watching my mates catch fish than back to the bait. There must be a knack and I dont have it. Only had my phone so took a couple of snaps but havn,t got the right cord thing to get them on the computer. Hopefully will have them up this weekend. All in all it was the best day I have had on the water in ages and if this is winter i am excited.

ocean sport I was at the 12 mile yesterday also in a 4.4m side console gat out there about 5:30 and struggled to find good fish. Finally fish come on after 10am and we manged a feed of parrot, grassies, couple of good moses 4-5kg maori cod but no squire/snapper not even an undersized one. wind got up pretty strong about 10:30 11:00 so headed back to mba about 11:30 had a great day though. (what boat were you in?) CHEERS BRENDAN

I was in a 6m Quintrex blue and white. Wasn't on the 12 mile but close and we didnt get a snapper after the sun came up. Definately fishes better for them at night. All the quality fish were caught at night or just on dusk
