the book "500 Hot Fishing Spots and GPS Co Ordinates from Cairns to Byron " 10 bucks. It has plenty of good reference points to get you started. Other than that you could stalk the charter boats

G/ day Greg might be a good idea to head straight out of the seaway untill you hit the 24 fath line then just sound around untill you find some thing worth checking. I always drift along these reefs (north/south). Might take a few trips to find some decent ground as the Goldie has been fished very hard.Give this area a look, hope it helps. 18 FATHS/ S27-57-275 E153-28-104

    Hi Greg,

Throw the marks into google earth (http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html), and then use the ruler tool(located up the top), draw a line from Seaway entrance to destination....you can see the distance in km/miles/km/meters etc, so pretty easy to work out approx. trip time based on what your "average" speed will be(Obviously your speed will be dictated by conditions).....24's is ~9Ks out from Seaway.

Grab some livies from Bait reef(Pretty much few hundred meters straight out from Sand Pumping Jetty, or Scottish prince 27.57.600S 153.26.150E.

    Re: Southport Reefs

G/ day Greg as Mick has said its about 10 ks from the seaway entrance should take about 15mins on average, i think its about 3 to 4 ks between the two reefs approx ! Im heading out to the 36 faths areas tomorrow for an early bottom bash for some reefies will be at the seaworld ramp around 5.00am. You could tag along for as long as you want to if you want. If you decide to head out youself just remember to stay on the south side of the seaway when heading out as it gets very shallow out the front of the nth rock wall for about a klm. Only a problem if the swells up, should be fine this week end with light winds and small swell forecast.
