Fuel Gauge

Can anyone help me with my fuel gauge which shows full all the time.
It is a genuine Mercury?

Is the wire that goes to your gauge from the sender earthed if so it shouldn't be.

How long has it been doing it? Might just need to clean around the sender salt build up may be causing the earthed effect.

If not your sender is stuffed in the tank, or the level float in your tank has fallen over, and reading horizontal level in stead of vertical level, If you know what i'm getting at there.
