Whiting stocks in morton bay are bad?

Its been many years since I have seen a feed of whiting caught, and the people who started this green zone thing didnt really address this issue.

Yet they stuffed my fishing for snapper in the bay, when there are plenty!

Someone refresh my memory, head out 700m from the mouth of the Caboolture river in prime WW time with a small long shank and bloodworm/sandworm/squid for a 2 hour drift around - will you come home with 20 or 30? and using a handline.

I never seem to have a problem putting a feed of Whiting together,

Your not using pillies for bait are you?

Never any shortage of boats fishing the banks north of Peel, same old blokes in the same boat catching the same fish..every week

you must be fishing in the wrong spots or using the wrong tackle, as pretty much everyone gets whiting, they r one of the most common species in the bay.

Which direction out the front of the Cabulture river? Up Beachmere direction, or straight out the front heading back towards scarborough?

    Just curious

Reasonable numbers on the banks north of Peel.

We fished gentleman's hours today and missed the prime high tide period early, but we still managed a couple of feeds with them coming on board steadily over a couple of hours. Plenty of Pike around also for those looking for bait!, plus the obligatory Grinners as well. Also a few squid following the whiting in, but they were cautious buggas and did not get a net near them.

It was a glorious day on the Bay today!, barely 5 knots of wind all day, and not too hot either. The fish were a bonus!

We used squid strips and peeled cooked prawns for bait, for those interested.

    Cheers

    Dave
