Been meaning to check this Coochin Ck out for ages. Nuggstar was chomping at the bit at the chance to chase jacks. Poor bugger caught a beauty a few days back on his home made popper and doesn't have internet access at the mo to tell you all lol.
Thought we would hedge our bets and pumped a few yabbies in Bells in case we chased whiting.
So off we go. I had timed it so we could go up with the rising tide and leave as it dropped. Made our way in to Coochin about 2 hours into the run-up. Boy is that one shallow creek in places. Started ok with a cod off one of the first snags we came to. But it was very quiet after that. Worked our way up to the secret jack spot I was given. Jacks were all asleep. Went on to the secret whiting spot. Whiting were out for the morning. Frustrating thing was the amount of bait schools getting smashed. Went on for ages but they were always in the distance. Any closer ones didn't respond to the mix of lures we threw at them. After a couple frustrating hours we decided to hit the passage. Things immediately looked up with a variety of fish coming to both lures and yabbies. Some quality - and some undersize. We ended up catching a mix of bream, lizards, cod, butter bream and the biggest happy moment I've seen. Gee they go hard.
Not a bad day by the end of it and I at least got to take home the obligitory 2 fish for dinner for the missus and myself.
