Nice Jew mate - And great effort retrieving him by your lonesome!
Hit the rocks again yesterday afternoon in the hope of another Jew.
The first signs were not good as there was still a good 3-4ft swell rolling through and I questioned for a while whether to fish or not.
Decided to give a higher ledge a go for a while and threw around plastics.
Was hard to fish with the swell and I had to wait for the lulls in between to work the plastics effectively.
About half an hour into it I got a nice big bump on the 100mm squidgie and hooked up.Coupe of nice little runs and head shakes and I had a little fella at the base of thge ledge.
Now this is where things got a bit interesting. With a good swell rolling through and no lower ledge to wash the fish up onto gaffing the fish wasn't easy.
I had the fish at the edge for a good 5 minutes before there was a lull between sets and I jumped down to a lower (bit dicey) area and gaffed the fish.
Luckily I pinned the fish on the first shot and then dragged him up to higher ground.
Might need a wingman for the next mission as this business of gaffing fish by myself and taking photos on the timer is getting to hard.
Cheers
Pete

Cheers,
Benny.
well done mate nice fish
your mind is like a parachute, it only works when its open
Another great catch there mate, can I ask what outfit your using ??
Good one Pete. A nice eating size too. Did you get him at the Pools or the Gates? I always found it much easier to land a jewie unassisted at the pools (I almost always fished there alone).
Cheers Freeeedom
Masterdusky......Rod is a Daiwa grandwave which I recntly purchased.
Its a two piece with the detachable butt section which is great for travelling etc.
Its 7ft 9 which I find better that the 7ft I was using for the light plastics.
Being slightly longer I get better distance.
Reel is a Daiwa Capricorn 4500J with 20lb braid and I use a 30-40lb leader.
Freeeedom....Neither of the two locations you mentioned.
Found a good spot round from Sunshine Beach which is far less of a walk.
Cheers
