17/3/08 There was one Salmon taken on the troll this St Patrick’s day, by Mr Gerry O’Sullivan of Tralee. Wind SE Fresh to strong and bright and sunny but with reasonable cloud cover at times. 18/3/08 One Salmon taken by Master Vincent and his Father, fishing with their Gillie Mr John Griffin, contact (353 0871387892) or @ johngriffinloughcurrane@hotmail.com Wind NE first thing this morning then veered ESE light throughout the day and plenty of sunshine.19/3/08 A cracking day on Lough Currane with three Salmon taken all on the troll, first in the striking zone was well known local Gillie Mr Bob Priestley contact (3530879228662) who caught his 10.5lbs Salmon going by the Bridge, next in the firing line was Mr Robert Elson of the UK, who also caught a fine Salmon going by the Bridge and finished his day in style by catching a Salmon in the 10lbs class on the south side in Copal and I can tell you his Gillie Mr Dominic Mc Gillicuddy had a smile on his face like a Cheshire Cat and after today’s catch he thinks he is the cat’s whisker in both the fly and trolling departments. Wind NE then veered NW for about half an hour then veered back into the NE, light all day and bright and sunny. 20/3/08 Another Cracking day on the Waterville system, I begin on the Famous Butler Pool where an angler caught a 8lbs Salmon on the fly, now to Lough Currane Where Mr Walter Ruche of Switzerland caught a fine 10lbs Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr Frank Donnelly of WWW.Lakelandshouse.com also in good form was Mr Johnson of the UK who caught a 6lbs lighting fresh Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr Neil O’Shea of WWW.Oshealoughcurrane.com Wind NW Fresh to strong and overcast with light drizzle at times. Amount of rain fall in the last 24 hours 0.1mm. 21/3/08 with a strong WNW gale blowing with violent gusts of which the strongest was 49 knots / 56.4mph/90.8km/h/82ft/s, so as you can imagine it was a day for the high stool and a pint, but being Good Friday all liquid departments were closed, so my noble anglers headed out for the North shore and all failed miserably upon their duties, need I say more. Amount of rainfall 6.5mm. 22/3/08 One was able to fish, even though it was tough competing against a strong NE wind, but my noble gentlemen wouldn’t cooperate with we the professionals or the amateurs. Amount of rainfall 0.6mm. 23/3/08 Salmon fishing conditions weren’t ideal but Mr Jean Marie Dabel of France manipulated his flies at the Morgan’s Rock and caught himself a fine 8lbs Salmon and considering the wind was NNE, Jean Marie and his Gillie Mr Vincent O’Sullivan and @ flyfishmann@o2.ie did well. In the trolling department I believe there was one contact but unfortunately or fortunately for the Salmon, he escaped the mercy of the priest. Wind NNE fresh to strong at times with the odd light shower, amount of rainfall 0.4mm. That is all the news from
your gillie and the Waterville fishery. No Spin no Fly’s just Facts.
