    Tinaroo report Easter (number two)

Well it seems Theo (Tinaroo Triumph) summed up our fishing day on Saturday quite nicely . I did honestly think he was going into the drink when he got an almighty hit late in the afternoon. I was gobsmacked at how quick he got busted off!!! Nice fish to say the least

I had another big donut on Friday with the barra fishing with a Tinaroo virgin. I was hoping to crack the pattern up there for him and get him onto a fish. Was not meant to be

Theo has explained the fishing on Saturday so you will have to read his report for more details. Saves me typing !!!! I was slow rolling Squidgy fish 130mm in Blue colour through weeds (HEAVY weeds)

Sunday looked like it was going to be a cracker from the way it started. Headed into a wind blown bay fishing similiar style to the day previous. Slow rolling Squidgy fish 130mm in the blue colour (lost packet to tell exactly what they call it) through the weed. In the first 6 casts I had 5 hits from fish ranging from about 30cm to 90cm . I could see each fish hit (lure fished close to surface) and were from different year classes. It slowed right down straight away after that as the weather took an almighty change with wind and rain picking up straight away.

Had a few more random hits throughout the day, but due to trying to fish the lure "weedless" the hook was not as exposed as I would have liked, so results were a little less than anticipated. Still new to this game, but was fun experimenting!!!! A very visual way to fish, as long as you are wearing polarized sunnies.

Later that day I picked up my wife and took her for a fish as she said she would like to catch her first barra. We took off across the windy basin and went to a point fished previously out of the wind, more for creature comfort for Kim than anything. I rigged the rods for Kim and she did not fish straight away so I worked the area hard for about 30 minutes before she picked up the rod. She hurled the 130 Pro Slick Rig out on her first cast and started twitching the lure (as that was what I was doing to my B-52). I told her to slow down as I thought the fish were a little deeper. No sooner she did, and the call came through, "I think I got one". I looked over to see a heavily loaded rod . I coached her through the fight (watching the bend constantly in the rod ) and then netted her first 83cm Tinaroo Barra on her first cast. Ha, beginners luck!!!

That was enough for me to call it a night as I was "dam" happy that she caught one, I was happier about that than me catching one. Her photo has been sent worldwide I think by now via mobile that evening.

Monday was "big" fishless..... All fish caught were on Squidgy fish 130 and Gold Bony Bream. Nothing was over about 50cm, catching 6 fish in total, with double the amount of hits. Saw a couple of fish around 90, but still no bigger brutes.

Well it's back to reality now and back to work, hopefully the water will settle a bit, and I will work out how to get the big girls firing again, but until then thanks once again for reading

    Cheers
    Matt

Great report mate, awesome to see young stock on the hunt, congrats to the wife as well, smile tells the story.
Im sure you and Theo bounce plenty of ideas off each other, a great way to crack patterns.
    Cheers

Well done to Kim!!! Nice fish... now I bet she see's why your so hell bent on catching these fish? LOL! Hit that spot up again next arvo eh?

6 fish - none over 50cm... bloooody ratssss! They should put them in a 'Nippers' Pool until they can actually tear line! Good to see though... billions of them around.

Was good catching up mate. Will have to take you out for a night session in my tub soon!

    Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Tinaroo report Easter (number two)

Great report Matt & congratulation to Kim on her maiden capture. Nothing wrong with catching a few rats as it sure beats donuts eh…….Future is looking good for Tinaroo over the next few years as it’s obvious that releasing footlings instead of fingerlings is paying off.

    Cheers Les

Good stuff Matt, we ended up cancelling due to the average reports we were getting from Joe, Theo and yourself and have rebooked for a week in Oct when the weather is hopefully a bit more stable. Try and catch up then mate. Congrat's to the missus too mate.

Nice report Matt, sounds like some quality time spent over the weekend. Me....I ended up painting for 3 days and wondered how others went.
