    Breaming with Confidence

Fished Noosa this morning with Brian hoping to catch a few nice easter bream. We were out very early to beat the good old holiday crowds and started at a favourite bridge spot of ours where the fish are normally fairly spooky. I had my first fish after a few casts, a legal bream that took a plastic as it sat. Brian's first followed not long after, a nice size cod (he just LOVES the cod) and after a few more casts and no more interest we moved to another bridge. Brian said "get a cast in along that wall, I normally pick one up here" and right he was, with a nice 28cm bream snaffling my plastic and having a nice little run along the rocks. Beautifully timed, the frayed 4lb leader gave just as he was lifted over the railing . But for once he fell on the right side!

We moved on and I managed another nice bream from under a jetty after I skipcast my plastic right in close to a pylon. I was lucky he was well hooked, as he ran straight at me after I hooked him, which I hadn't expected and was very slow to react to. We spent quite some time at our next spot, after dragging a bream out from under a jetty we were being harassed by moses perch that were far more agressive than the spooky bream. Brian was reeling in one of the moses when a big jack started following the moses in...scary moment. Brian wouldn't give up, staying for another twenty minutes and changing rigs twice trying to encourage MJ to come out and play, but to no avail. We also heard a roar in the distance like a waterfall, hopped under a bridge and down came a torrential downpour that was over as fast as it had come.

Finished up around the sheraton and Nugg finally scored the bream he'd been trying for all day. We were dropping our plastics in next to the boardwalk area and they were getting hammered by bream, moses perch and cod as soon as they disappeared from our vision. Lost a few plastics to cod getting me amongst the rocks but still scored a few and a couple of bream as well. We hit another canal after for no fish, but still had a really good day out. Final tally was 6 bream, 3 moses and a couple of cod to me, Brian scored one bream, a few moses and a whole heap of cod. Much better fishing than I expected for an Easter weekend and it was nice to get one up on Nugg for a change Happy Easter everyone.

Been spending a bit of time chasing the brimbos seen as everyone is hitting em. I am finally catchin em on the plastics and havin more fun than i thought on the 4 pound. The only thing i hate about the 4 pound is when you get smashed by something big and you hear that little ping of your leader giving up before you even get a go. damb.We saw a almost 40cm under a sail boat that had the sun reflect under it and first cast by my brother and of they went but what a view it was. Keep it up boys and i hope to hit that barra farm one day.

D, I love fishing the light leader, but you're right. You hook a flathead or something fast and you hold your breath. Nugg's using some fluoro that seems really tough, can't remember the name though. Let us know when you're hitting the barra park, as good an excuse as any to hit it

That's nugg's gear mate, but that cement was fairly clean after the rain last night. It's all about getting a nice picture (and showing off the flash gear ).

Nice work. I managed a nice 34cm bream land-based on Sat morn. A PB for myself.

Good stuff Joel, pity MJ didn't come out to play.
Is that the Nugget's woody in the fifth photo? If not, what is it?

    Cheers Jeff.

Nah Jeff, the Woody didn't come out to play today, though he still carries it in his pocket. How suspect does that sound! The fish in the photos were caught on cut down green turtleback worms and new penny shrimp, we didn't give the hardbodies much of a go today but the plastics were great.
