I'd rather catch a 25cm bream than a 60cm catfish. First one is a bit of fun, after that they are just annoying

Mate, you are the first person ive ever seen who has brag mat'd and photoed a catfish LOL. Good on ya.

There has been an absolute explosion in the numbers of them lately. I often wonder if its got anything to do with the people who target bull shark. Taking the apex predator out of the system, these things then go wild.

I think its all the rain that brings these pests into play

Got one the other night at the red bouy at coochie. About 54cm. Thought it was a squire the way it ran then no more head shakes. Yep catty. Cut off because of those spikes .

the cattys usually just explode in numbers every year, all sizes. i found mainly over at shorncliffe pier when i was a resident every weekend for about 6 months , but they r only a good fish when you have nothing els to do and there is nothing els around.
