    Interesting trip to.... IKEA...???

For various "domestic reasons", I've just come back from a trip to Ikea.

While shmbo was fondling cuddly toys and fawning over kitchen items and soft furnishings I started to see items of potential fishing parafenalia all over the place.

first thing to catch my eye was a large jar of small tubular plastic beads for $8.......there were thousands of the little things in there in lots of bright colours.....on the sign it said, " promotes fine motor skills and dexterity" yep sure would if you droped that lot on the floor.
But it looked like you could use plenty of them as coloured beads for attracting whiting & such and with a bit of imaginiation some colourfull lurish things.

moving onto the soft toys department there were some small plush stuffed fish toys.......Hmmm... I wonder how they would go with a gang of hooks thru them and dipped in tuna oil .

there were some collapsable spring supported storage cylinders that I recon would make great keeper nets.

I saw a number of cutlery storage or colander type things in stanless that would make fantastic burley buckets.

I saw a plastic shopping bag storage & despensing thing that with a bit of work would either make a nice bait trap or a small crab pot.

then the seating department, there was one of those tractor seat stools, but this one was almost all plastic...... I recon that would go well as a stool on a bass boat.

even their big yellow shopping bag would be great for hauling the catch home when you dont feel like draging an esky.

So next time the MRS drags you shopping it just a case of attitude.

    cheers

Niglr - Yeah, I know what you mean and if you get caught looking at the scenery you get in deeper s@it so its better to do your own shopping, buy what you want and look at the scenery in peace and quiet

Blokes spend about half theire life waiting on them, half waiting for them and any time that is left doing what your told

I think the italians have the idea worked out.

the man drives the woman to town, she goes off shopping and the man sits in the town square.( possibly drinking coffee)

Now this all happens on on specific day (or every day) so the town square is full of men waiting for their wives, so the men discuss matters of importance such as wine or cheese making, gardening, fishing or cars, among other things.

Thre is s group of retires italina men who can be found on some certain seats at carindale every friday morning .... very civilised.

    cheers

oldboot.. another thing they've got worked out in Italy, in the north anyway, is that the women all spend about 80% of their salary on clothes, make-up, etc. so you wouldn't mind sitting in the square for a few hours having a good look round
    Cheers,

Hi Oldboot I'm surprised you havn't mentioned all the different Teflon products that they have at Ikea which make excellent bait storage boxes.

Don't forget the craft section of any Silly Solleys/Crazy Clark's type shop. Beads, baubles and all sorts of nifty shiny things to make your own lures with!!!

I have also scored some big Styrofoam balls that work a treat as crab/yabby pot floats for only $1.00 each. A quick zip with a drill to put a hole through them and they are every bit as good as the purpose made ones....

oldboot, i done a good spell in italy and i can tell you that coffee is only consumed when there is no woman for the men to chase.....but full credos to the woman over there, for they really do know how to look after themselves...

Don't worry I had my priorities right.
The main purpose of the trip was to purchase zip off trousers for fishimng in .

I might drop back there, I have my eye on a shinny red rod.
