Yes you do a mate of mine lives at Woodgate and he has got several in the Burrum and the Gregory.
Marty.
yep more jacks tho
Barra are generally found in the creeks and rivers north of about Tin Can Bay
Barra were found further south historically but the ones found last year may have been expets or escapees from ponds and aquaculture facilities

There are enough barra in the burrum river to specifically target them.
Jack.
Lenthalls dam had a significant overflow about 2 months ago and the ranger said a lot of the barra that survived the big fish kill from the cold went over the wall. At the burrum river caravan park there are plenty of photos of good sized barra caught from the park.

Yeh, but where? It's a reasonable sized river.
I've heard the Black Bank opposite the caravan park produces the occasional barra but I would also love to hear from those who have caught them and where and how as I'm going up there in a few weeks.
John
have not targeted them and only caught one in the burrum - it was up near the weir. size was between 40-50cm.
Marty
A lot of guys round there spear them some at the black banks so they don't get much of a chance.
Caught one in a cast net in the gregery....there are quite a few caught in the river itself as well........they can be caught in a few places in the bay....have seen them on the surf side of fraser as well
Yes mate,
you can target them though atm they will be migrating back up the river. the spearos do get a few at black bank though since the rain no one will be spearing. they will still be around if you target them with livies. My best morning i got 6.it should be starting to clear up and there should be a few round before winter.
chewy.................
thanks for all the info much appreciated
cheers
