Leader Material Preferences.
Reading an article on this and the guy claims that Florocarbon material is brittle and liable to break at the knot. Just made up a heap of "Knotted Dogs" 30lb doubled for Barra so am a bit worried. Anyone had problems with Flurocarbon? Any advise apreciated

Re: Leader Material Preferences.
It's got me thinking. I use 12lb FC Rock flurocarbon for my freshwater stuff. I had one yellowbelly break the leader right at the waters edge ( not a big fish either ) and I broke the same leader material the other day trying to free a bass from a grassy snag...didn't pull the line very hard and it seemed to pop fairly easy. I'm thinking of going back to Platypus Platinum in 12lb.
Perhaps it's just a bad batch...I also use 20lb FC Rock and It's as strong as hell. If it gets snagged it's a real job to break it off.
I might rig up with the mono and give it a go for a while.

just buy good quality flurocarbon leader, and use a good knot with plenty of lube (spit) - and don't tighten the knot too quickly - you shouldn't have any problems at all with proper flurocarbon.

Good day,
Fluro leader can be cut by braid or gelspun if the knot is poor. The braid (knot)compresses under pressure and cuts though the leader .The lighter the braid/fluro the more prone to cutting.Uni to uni tied with care works well for me.
Cheers
