I haven't had a graphite rod before,only used friends rod,and was wondering what you have to be careful of and how to wash them after fishing

wash the rod with water and dry it with a tea towel.
Be carefull not to bend just the rod tip by lifting the rod up high to get the fish in the boat or something. YOu can put a brutal amount of force on the rod from from the butt, but if you just bend the tip too far it just snaps off.
also if it hits something hard and gets a little damaged it becomes quite a weak spot.

Mate clean the rod , runners and grips with warm soapy(Dishwashing liquid) water and rinse the soapy water off with fresh water and leave out in the sun to dry out fully.
Graphite is notorious for failing when being dropped against hard objects this causes the graphite to fracture. You will not see this damage until you get a good hook up and pressure is then placed on the damaged part and it lets go.
You need to take great care when handling these rods.

It's basically the same maintenaince as for any other rod, the only difference being you have to be a lot more carefull to not bang a graphite rod against solid objects (such as boat gunnels) as it can end in tearsCheers,
