Nerang River
Was going to head down there satuday, stay overnight in river.
I guess it would be pretty protected up in there from the ese or se winds.
Hows the fishing been? Anyone been up there this week and what bait.
Where do u get those jelly prawn and what best way to catch them.
I only got 489 stacer so just going to sleep in that.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Nerang River
I have heard the same as Keechie with the massive Whiting. Use live Bloodworms and Nippers for your best results and maybe even through down a Pilchard for a go.
Good luck and Cheers Tom

Re: Nerang River
greg nerang will be the best bet shelterd from the se winds.
the whiting have finished spawning but will still be around in numbers best baits yabbies or bloodworms id be looking at going up river past the chambers and finding some banks to fish around there. plenty of good bycatch in the way of bream grunter and cod around.
good luck

Dont forget the repellant...... lots of it.
And a mossie net if you have one.... but it wont be any good against the sandflies.

Re: Nerang River
mate keep a rod with a popper spare if (if thats what you like) out for the night...just never know what will start to heard up some bait down that way..some times it can be a crazy 20 seconds out there sometimes a full 20 mins of bait get smashed ... keep a eye out around the bridges or rock wall and even just have a quick blooop bloop bloop if it is a bit slow if fishing wit the bait..you may be surprised... ....you hook up you will have a ball and the strike is so much fun..

Re: Nerang River
Sea Horse,
I'll be fishing the Nerang for Whiting this Saturday night.
Look for the Red Cyclone with Black Canopy.
I believe there will also be 3 fishing clubs down there as well.
Won't be hard to pick the good spots but it will be a "Car Park" !!
I have seen the action that Poppers81 has mentioned. One night at the chambers a few years back the whole place erupted for at least 45 min.
I didn't have any lures in the boat, but it was amazing just to watch. The whole section of the river had fish exploding, baitfish showering. still remember it like it was yesterday !!
Cheers

Re: Nerang River
nerang has been ok for whiting and bream, but not much else. Its been a bit poor for jacks in the last 2 weeks, but was good the week before......I dont think this weekend is ideal, but good luck, I hope you prove me wrong. Ive got a few mates who have been there lately, and they didnt do much good either. Depends what your targetting.
cheers

Re: Nerang River
Seahorse i fished the Nerang last night for 29 Whiting no big ones 25 to 32 cm, best on run in up past the council chambers on bloodworms home by midnight.
As for the jelly prawns early morning under bridges, jetties and under the cotton trees that hang over the riverbanks, good day time bait not as good at night.
Hope that helps.cheers Wayne. ps There are no mosquitoes or sandflies in the main river only if you start going up some of the dead end canals.

Re: Nerang River
Seahorse dont know if the boat ramp question was for me or not but it would depend on if your in a fishing club and have to attend a breifing in the afternoon in the Broardwater it does not sound like you are so i would suggest you use the Isle of Capri boat ramp as this is right in the area where you want to start fishing.cheers Wayne.
