guys need somewhere to go for easter....somewhere cheap will good, i live in brisbane and want to go a way for a couple of nights for the first time with our new boat!!! got a couple of kids, have no camping gear ( thats our next step) so a cabin would be great somewhere coastal within two hours of brisbane would be good, obviously somewhere close to a boat ramp ( i have never crossed a bar ( will do a course later ) so want somewhere reaonably safe........any ideas of good camp grounds????
your mind is like a parachute, it only works when its open
Hervey Bay? I think its a 3-4hr drive from Brissy but is a beautiful place. Your also only a stones throw from Fraser Is. Dont know about any camping grounds up there but im sure they are around. Myself and a few friends went up last year and stayed at the Grange Resort (www.thegrange-herveybay.com.au), great value accomodation but i guess it may be more than what your willing to spend.
Bit tough finding a cheap cabin at Easter.
You could call the Maroochy Palms caravan park and see if anything available, they have cabins and boat parking. I have set up a tent there for a couple of weeks. Its just across the road from the Maroochy River near the cod hole nice safe boating in the Maroochy river, and you can also tow the boat around to Mooloolaba and go out in the bay there , no bar to speak of on a calm day.
Good spot for the rug rats with a pool etc.. http://www.maroochypalms.com.au/
Mate give Rainbow Waters Caravan Park Carlo Point Rainbow Beach a call they might have a cabin vacant only if you are lucky. This park is right next to the boat ramp
You could try the tourist park at Jacobs Well. If the weather is fine it will be crowded (any maybe booked out) but it is close to the ramp.
Easter should be fun.
I will be at the Pin starting from next Monday to beat the rush and expect to see the usual crowd of boaties, jet skiers, fisheries patrol, water police and hire house boats all contributing to the mayhem.
Plus, of course, little white fluffy dogs, together with gin palaces and trophy wives.
Keeping you eye on the little dogs is the go. They get little kisses and waves as they head off for the beach in the rubber ducky. Blokes get to do that part and also have to dry their little feet before being let back on board for a cuddle. The dog, that is. The bloke generally rests up before heading back to the beach with 'Fluffy'.
Poona and Tuan used to have decent areas for camping around the Sandy Straights area years ago and probably still does. Only downside was timing of the tides due to shallows.
You have the seaway 5 mins away, your own boat ramp and a little creek where the ramp is where the kids can fish ( and catch some!) while you might have a more serious fish out wide if you want to.
The photo attached was taken right outside the cabins which face the creek, boat ramp in the background. A memorable holiday where my two daughters caught their PB's.
