    Lowrance GlobalMap 7200c

Are their any owners of this unit can give me some feedback on this plotter.

Am interested in the Navplanner program but I can not find out how many waypoints can be stored on the PC or in how many different groups given the crazy 1000 waypoint limit?

I've downloaded the User Guide and the answers not in there.

    cheers,

    Mick

i work in a chandelery and in my opinion the globalmap 7200 is the best value for money plotter i have seen. the sreen resolution is the best i have ever seen and the brightness of the screen is great. we had one on disply and it was a great unit. plus lowrance are good with all their repairs and warranties, usually they just replace

as for the navplanner softwarewhen u buy the it they give you a second blank card to put waypints routes etc on. Plug it into the second slot and load the data through the system menu.

I have one and love it, just bought the radar interface and will give it a run in a week or two, very easy to use, touch screen is fantastic.
Bought it this time last year and cruised down from Mackay wher I purchased it from Reef Marine, just be careful wher you mount your GPS antanea, mine was mounted in the wheel house (not my choice) and I occassionally lose position, great machine, get one now!!!

Are you talking about a Lowrance 7200C? They dont have a touch screen.

I think they are prolly the best value 7inch plotter on the market especially when you take into account future options (NMEA2000 probes, radar/network capable and future navionics platinum compatibility). Just make sure you download the latest firmware/software for it and they are very stable.

I had an issue with mine when I first bought it that made it lock up when you zoomed in or out. Latest software upgrade has fixed it and it is sweet as now.

    Cheers

    Mick - unless you want to look at the mapping on the PC you dont need to buy the Navionics Planner. Just grab a multi-card reader from Dick Smith and download the free Lowrance programs;

I can't comment on the Global Map 7200 as I have the 7600Hd and have been very happy with that unit.
I have used NAvplanner and found it not very user friendly and very limiting in it's capabilities.
I use Fugawi software on my laptop to manage waypoints/tracks/routes etc etc. Does everything you would need. http://www.fugawi.com/web/index-in.htm

Richard - does that software allow you to read the Navionics files on your SD/MMC card and save them on your hard drive or do you always need the original card to be read off?

Fugawi uses the same Navplanner cardreader that is supplied with the Navplanner Software. It needs the Navionics card to load the chart you want. After you have loaded the chart you can take out the Navionics card and do your downloads or uploads to your SD card.

    Hi Ratman,

I have a 7200c running the navionics map, and am really happy with the unit.

They are a very user friendly unit & quality of maps make using the unit very handy.

I purchase mine from usa, and got the unit & full assie maps for about $1050 delivered
    Many Thanks

    Re: Lowrance GlobalMap 7200c

Looks like my old Humminbird GPS has finally carked it. Time for a replacement. I am thinking the Lowrance GlobalMap 7200C is looking like very good value. I think I can still get one for under a grand ex map card if I am quick.

Any other GPS makes/models for around the same sort of money that I should consider?.

    Cheers

    Thanks Garry,

I am told I managed to secure the last one in the Bias warehouse.

Now to decide which C map card to get. I already have the Rosslyn Bay to Brissy in my combo unit, so might got the full Australian card this time.

    Cheers
