Thread: We are all Wooses

    Re: We are all Wooses

I feel like I am in a club that wants to dance but no one is game to get on the dance floor, with the exception of the guys doing all the work, Phill, Chris, Poodroo, the mods and ausfish and a whole heap of others, I have got lot of posts regarding the new proposed green zones and how we are all against them and to have less then 80 boats turn up at our river rally was pretty pathetic. I don't know how many registered users we get for the week in Brisbne on AUSFISH , but the is also pretty lowpercentage is pretty low on the people that hold their hand up and volunteer

i would like to know where the best place is to stay up to date on the issues regarding the fight against the epa proposal. i would like to find a coordinated place that is easy to use. i find ausfish is a difficult place to negotiate with all the forums and when you normally just check reports you can miss a lot of stuff! i can't wait to get out on the water and be heard!

BTW, it is NEVER too late, BayDog.

Sorry Phil but you're wrong there mate. What do you think our chance of getting a green zone back is after it has been passed. That is when it will be too late. Once they are in they will be there to stay imo.

Baydog, you been out to flat rock lately?? Green zones and some kind of restrictions have been putting a stranglehold on our bay and other areas for years. The urgency is that it is "not too Late" to ensure we won't be fined for fishing in our own back yard pool, and make as much noise as possible now. Certainly not too late for that.

    Re: We are all Wooses

A few of you have mentioned getting behind this SOBA organisation. I did a google (remember that I'm from the bush) and what do I find, theres not one but numerous bays that need/want saving!! Confusing to say the least. I think the push has to be Qld wide or better yet National (yeah I know the chances of that one happening).

While it's true that there are masses of fishos in the SE corner of the state, I'd bet dollars to donuts that there are far more up the coast. This is one of our major stumbling blocks............the people in the SE corner forget that the rest of the state exists (except maybe at election times). Why block off something in Brisbane or the Gold Coast with our boats and kids and families and rods and reels........it would be just another city protest. But; do it in Rocky/Mackay/Townsville or another regional centre directly targeting the local politicians from that area and the general lack of "HOT" news stories from the bush and the outcomes might be different.........who knows, perhaps the rural fishos are a bit more willing to drive a mile or two to do something useful for the sport?

We should take a leaf out of the book from the anti Vietnam protesters that didn't want to go to war to learn how to kill people they didn't know. Once the green Zones are in place and we believe they arent there for sake of conservation, we should protest against them on the water, stuff the consequences and protect our rights to fish, as a side issue are there any green zones in Arnham land? or is that to hard to politically address.
We have a lot of Keyboard Kowboys, we need some commitment from our members, Woody Point, Green Zone, Bramble Bay Green Zoned, Shornecliffe Green Zone, Hope you get plenty of funds where you are.
