Alright the poll to end friendships over...... I just cooked up the last packet of a coral trout 7kg from murphys and some fingermark from Arakun. My kids both choose the fingermark and with disapointment so did I.For arguments sake it was skinned filleted and pan fried with salt and pepper.I have previously baked this trout and it was the best fish I have eaten and i am not neglected ....... SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges
Up here we Use Hussar as baits for real RED FISHS (SHSIIFDER)
You are going to start a fight here with some members, I can see it coming.
I've never eaten fingermark so can't really comment, and sorry wahoo I'd give away any spanish in lieu of a trout every time, guess that's why we are all different.
I'll go the trout

any way
You have to go a long way, to get a better piece of fish that a properly cooked fresh couple of fillets of decent whiting.
But as with anything fresh is best.
cheers
black drummer (pig, rock blackfish are other names for it) will get me every time, bled, skinned and pan fried in flour......still my favourite eating fish....though i dont get em anymore since i moved to qld. Will have to settle for Pearlies and Dollies.
Greg
the best I've cooked myself - summer whiting.
the best I've had cooked for me - orange roughy.
cheers
I cooked a wonderful snapper which i picked up from around coochi not long ago, that was baked to perfection...
Today I baked a white snapper but unfortuanntly I cooked it for too long so the flesh became a bit tough but you know... I'm a sorta unfussy man who was hungry as f**k so it didn't really bother me that much... But next time i'll definitely make sure i cook it for the minimium possible time.
I caught a 5kg trout off double island pt that wasnt so great on the chew , but the 7kg model from murphys was so tastee. Maybe it had a better diet? . Fingermark are even tastier than jack ,one species that is underrated is salmon. We caught a big one up the cape so i battered it and it was like eating battered mash potato ,probably the best battered piece of fish i have eaten.Havent tried spanish YET but if its better than spotties, cant wait.Oh well think i will eat the rest of my trout and fingermark for breaky.cheers all
Hi Cameron next time your baking a coral trout try stuffing it with slices of mango and put some around it too then wrap em up,one of the best ideas I've ever had.The mango really complements the fish.Despite living in NQ I still can't go past fresh winter whiting fillets, been a while since I had any though.
the best eating fish i had has to be blue eye cod . Used to get these drop lining at the shelf.
