    G'day!

I guess it is easier to be a catch and release guy if you don't eat fish.

I wish everyone would stop trying to be so negative on this site. If you haven't got anything positive to contribute to a thread then keep it to yourselves. No wonder people are aprehensive about posting up a report these days.

    Poodroo,

Are you really that surprised that a post showing 100kgs of flake being carted away in a box trailer might stir up a bit of emotion?

I am guessing that you are concerned about the 'negative' comments made about the topic rather than the equally 'negative' comments directed at some of the respondents.

We can't control peoples thoughts on issues and anyone should be able to post a comment whether popular or not, just as you have done... else it would be a pretty boring old forum.

Remember 2 negatives added together make a positive.

    Regards Cameron.

Cameron there is nothing good about coming under fire about doing something perfectly legal. If I guy wants to share with us that someone has taken home a 100kgs of flake in the trailer to feed his family and friends for a year then good on him. If someone wants to tussle with something like that and let it go then fine too. But when someone starts copping flack over it it leaves a bitter taste which I feel is not warranted. If someone does something illegal and boasts about it on here then they deserve the roasting they get. But leave the legal fishermen alone in my opinion. There is no need for harrassing someone for enjoying his hobby within the law.

I rest my case. I have been on Ausfish long enough to have noticed the change in the quality of reports shared on the site. There has been a steady decline and many a good fisherman and woman have chosen to remain silent and no longer post. I ask the question "Is it worth harrassing people for posting up a report for doing something legal?" The number of great people who have stopped contributing to this forum are everybody's loss because there is some great knowledge and learning that we have all lost along with their abscence.

Legal is great and all, but common sense should sometimes prevail.

An example of this is a charter trip I was on recently. I released the majority of my fish (not all) but the other patrons kept every last thing they could pull overboard. We ended up with so many fish that the skipper couldn't persuade people to take home the last 30 or 40. It was ridiculous. People had multiple eski's overflowing .

I'm not against people taking a large feed of fish when they have paid a lot for a once in a blue moon trip, but common sense would have to kick in at some stage and make you think enough is enough.

All perfectly legal yet completely wasteful. I guess this must be OK by the majority??

I don't think any of us are interested in the slaying matches except those who insist on posting up negative comments. If the negative comments aren't made in the first place the slaying matches would not eventuate.

Exactly Foggy. So on a different note, when are we going on that Bass hunting expedition? I haven't forgotten.

Good question DICER, I'd like to know too.
By the looks of it a missing dog or 3
I have only one question.....is a shark that big worthy of the amount of edible meat it would carry? You'd almost have to take it to Raptis' to contract them to fillet it for you, what a massive job that would have been. I hope he had a samuri sword to cut through it with

I personally think it's great to see the large bullies being pulled out of the river. It must say something about the rising quality of the water and the number of 'food' fish in the river for the bigger sharks to be there as often as they are reported. Yes, it's bad for people who want to use the river for skiing etc too.
