STREN Hi Vis Gold vs Platypus Super100

    Team.

I want to troll with my TYR30 and Tcurve medium (10-15kg rating) for large pelagics in GOVE - excluding sailfish and Marlin.

Which line should I use 0.53mm dia Stren Hi Vis Gold or 0.41mm Platypus Super100 - and why?

Mate just use the platypus! Or another option would be Momoi but really any good quality line will be fine, there is really no need to pay for pretest unless your fishing comps. The reason not to use Stren gold is easy, Cost!!!! It's good line but bloody expensive and a line like Momoi is equally as good at about 1/2 the price! I use momoi on on all my light and heavy tackle outfits.

    THanks Finding TIme.

Cost is not an issue for me for line selection - I have lost too many good fish in my life due to line breakage.

Ignoring all other brands, I would like some thoughts on the following points:

Stren 15kg Hi Vis Gold is 0.56mm diameter (confirmed by dealer).

I thought trolling line is supposed to be as thin as possible but still retain strength, knoth and abrasion toughness?

As this specific brand of line is dedicated for trolling, why is the diameter of this line larger than many others it's application and 15kg class?

How would this Stren comapre to say Platypus Super 100 15kg with diameter of 0.41mm diameter?

Would 0.56mm diameter line adverself affect lure action, etc. ?

PS - I am not fishing for Sailfish or Marlin (hence ue of huge lures).

Yeh sometimes there is just no substitute for a bit of thickness when it comes to abrasion resistance. Though if your trolling it normally isn't too big a deal and you just want to go for increasing line capacity as much as possible. I think another reason why you want to go a thicker line for pelagics is it might reduce the effects of tension stress distorting the integrity of the line (just a guess). Good luck with the fishing, you may find aswell that 15kg line class will be enough for small bills aswell (should easily handle fish over the 50kg mark aslong as the sharks doen't get to them)
