    Borumba spillway upgrade

Noticed in yesterdays paper under the goverment tenders, that sunwater is looking for invitations to provide materials and people to upgrade the spillway over a period of 36 weeks commencing mid april.

The sunwater site doesn't have much info other than they are increasing the height to hold more capacity, but doesn't state how high it will go and what capacity it will hold.

Anyone have any info on this?

    cheers

I havn't heard anything but would be interested if the increased capacity would have an impact on existing boat ramp and parking facilities, Its 100% now so cannot argue re increasing capacity if possible (and hopefully forget Traveston).
If you hear anything please post it. I'll ask a few of my mates as well.
    Regards

Had a reply from sunwater, I'll just cut and paste the reply into here to save me typing...

Thank you for your recent email query concerning Borumba Dam spillway.

The wall will be raised by 1.6 metres. However the purpose of the spillway upgrade is not to increase the storage capacity rather it is to ensure the spillway can safely manage the water flows generated by an extreme rainfall event. Whilst the chance of an extreme rainfall event is low and the spillway is currently very safe, this upgrade will ensure that water will be released in a controlled manner during a significant rainfall event. It is important to note that the upgrade will not increase the water storage capacity of the dam. Capacity will remain at current levels and water supplies will not be affected.

Access to the dam wall area will be restricted for safety reasons, however access to the boat ramp, car park and picnic area will not be affected.

Please contact me should you have further queries.
