A Couple of Airlie Beach Questions

Me and a mate are heading up to Airlie Beach for 3 weeks at the start of May. We will be bringing a 17ft Aluminium Boat and our Jigging and Bottom Bashing Gear. I was wondering what size Deepwater Jigs are mostly used up there and is a 4/0 Paternoster rig ok or to small to use up there. As this is our first trip up there we currently don't have a map or any GPS Marks . I know everyone has there secret GPS Marks but i was wondering if anyone could help out with a GPS Mark just to get us heading out in the right direction. We will be leaving from Shute Harbour. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Mark, a 17 ft tinny up in the whitsundays....Way to go.

A good place to try is Roseric Shoals, about 13 km north of Airlie Marina. Plenty of decent coral trout. You will need at least a 6/0 set up with a #10 ball sinker (strong currents) Armit Island is green zone, but Double Cone is ok to fish.
I suggest you google GBRMPA for the green zones. Look for MPZ10
The west side of Hook Island has some great looking bommies just off shore to cast a lure/ jig at. Be aware of the strong winds and currents that can blow across the Whitsunday Passage. Also, the area has tides to 5 metres.
PM me and I'll give you a few marks, ok?

Will be a great trip mate, we dragged my 12 foot tinny up there a few, well maybe a bit more than a few, years ago and landed enuf trout, grassies, macks, cod fishing around Daydream, out of Schute, to keep us happy.
Like fish on says, after hours dangleing at magnums is not to be missed

MPZ10 is the one for whitsundays as mentioned.

Don't know if that;s enough detailed for you but I think they're pretty good, especially considering the very low price
