    G'day Mark,

Been up to Turkey many times.

worth going for a run around the front to fish Bustad Head and the other patches of rock in the area.
The closest offshore reef is Rock Cod Shoals. I don't have any marks but it's hard to miss on a map or chart.

Take the Crab Pots, It's a heavily mangroved estuary and good for Mud CRABS.

    Cheers
    Craigie.

    Hi Mark,

There's also a couple of Wrecks out off the coast "Nautilus" & "Barcoola". You can get the marks from the Dive Oz site

Take a cast net, I used to do a bit of Beam trawling with I guy named Aussie up there after a few drinks at the Boreren Pub, we use to kick arse on the prawns.
Confirm the Aeroguard the midgees are resentless in their attack

NO NETS in Rodd's Harbour !!!!!

Thoroughly check regulations before attempting any Netting for bait or prawns.
A very hot issue in those parts !!!!

oh yes, the sandflies are ferocious !!! mainly at dawn and dusk when the winds have dropped.
Would highly reccomend staying in accom with screens and or Air Con.

    Hi Mark
You and your mates are probably back by now. But I thought I'd give some hints for next trip if you're going back again later.
The harbour is huge and you can get lost easily, between 14 ft between high and low, as well as so many mangrove islands on the eastern side, without going back up the main creek. Depths vary between 0 and 30 ft in places and there are everything fr jack, cod, fingermark, salmon, mack, trevors, flathead, whiting, grunter etc etc to be had. Many of the locals won't tell you too much, but if you happen to be at the ramp and have a chat they can give you a few pointers. Muddies are there, but ther terrorists on long w/e's tend to be share farmers, so don't set and forget your pots, cause not everyone else will.
If you go outside, to the left is 7 mile which is bigger than Rodds Harbour and has plenty of deep and fishy holes in the mnay estuaries that lead off it! Don't travel without a GPS as you'll easily get lost - it's a huge area also.
If you go east out of the harbour, there's Ethel Rocks, Richards Point and further eats to Bustard Head, Pancake Creek and plenty more.
I'm going up to my place at Turkey this w/e and can be contacted if you want a few more specifics.
    Good luck

    Re: fishing from turkey beach

I'm heading up for Easter and when I was last there, there was still no official camping spots within the Turkey Beach area!
As to Blackneys Point, personally I expect that the area that you are referring to will be within the Private Property and probably closed off these days! If it is open, you may get through with an off road van, although you could get lost once you get into the Private Property, as its about 2500 acres and there are many tracks through it! I would suggest a GPS for that trip also!
You mention having a 12' tinny with a 15hp outboard, which you could launch off the creek bank along the way to Blackneys and try for muddies as well as other species. The creek is tidal and you could get caught with the big tides, if you go too far without a sounder.
If you launch off the beach at Blackneys, you can access many areas within the harbour, as well as 7 Mile, which is larger than Rodds Harbour.
Let me know if you need more info and I'll try and find additional details for you!
As far as water goes, there is little or none available within Turkey, although I'm happy for you to fill up at my place as I have over 200kl of water storage.
