Does the colour make any difference? Are some colours less visable underwater than others at different depths?
I am looking at 30lbs in either black, blue or red
cheers

Cheers nag, knew there would be a logical answer, even if it made me a feel a bit in the process .
Hamish ..... Dont be It is a good topic!
You would think that there is some logic to why the manufacturers use the colours that they do!
Fluoros .... yeh that's a given ! ..... High visibility to assist with trolling & lurecasting ( great for fly backing ..... on a running fish) ......... Bright colours in a heavy class fished in crystal clear , shallow & still water ...... may spook finicky fish ( but that's why we use clear / fluorocarbon leaders)
Red ..... Yes its the least visible under water
But the rest ...... Nice colours catch fisherman
Just pick the one you want!

PS ..... I've watched bream in gin clear water mesmerised by the lure only ( even though one set up used smoke & the other used blue braids) ...... behavior was the same.
Have to confess - used to chose my braid to colour coordinate with my reels. Afterall if you are going fishing you might as well look good too Had some awesome black braid on my Emeraldas but after a trip one day in low light conditions it drove me insane. I couldn't see the braid above the water and found it really hard going, especially with three of us fishing from the boat. Now stick to colours I can see.
Fav ones at the moment are Castaway (light blue) so still doesn't clash with my reel and various jigging braids.
I agree with NAGG go with the one you like, with the best feel and diameter for the $ you want to spend.

Hi Janelle
Dont think you are the only one that colour co ordinates their line & reel ! .... A mate just bought a Shimano Core & loaded it with Cajun braid ......
Hey if you like the Castaway ..... Take a look at the new Yamatoyo Salt Water Braid ( very sexy blue) ...... but exxy in $
