    '91 Suzuki DT85 Alarm

Everytime I turn the ignition on an alarm sounds for about 2sec every 7sec but stops shortly after the motor has started.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks,

    Dave.

Can't really help you at the moment, I cant remember mine was disconected a long time ago. And me manual is at home.

But there is on the 95 model, oil level, water flow, and water temp sensors, of course there hooked up to an audible alarm that sounds on start up.

Give me an idea of the beeps long short and duration and I might be able to look up the code.

But at a guess I would say water flow sensor (just got a float on it) Brown and black wire ? coming from half way up the head near the middle spark plug. And all that is doing is letting you know it's working and water is flowing around your head.

hi dave my etec does the same as far as i know this is normal is your motor a oil injected model? if so its normal does it only happen when you turn your key on as my etec as soon as you turn your key on the lights on the gauages like up then turn off in this case its a start up thing normal for most engines while turning the key on in the oil injection model

Roughasguts it is a long continual tone lasting for about 2 seconds occuring about every 7seconds until either key turned off or motor started. It has only the one sender on the head which has 4 wires coming from it not sure if it it temp or flow.

Pursuit001 it is oil injected, my last boat had an oil injected yamaha which didn't do this.

The oil level seemed a little low so topped it up but alarm is still sounding.

I purchased a Clymer manual a couple of days ago but it has nothing about this alarm in it at all.

Hi Dave might be a couple of days before I can get back to you got to find the owners manuel for the Suzuki, plus i'm still at work.
I'm surprised the clymer manuel hasn't got it, I got the Seloc not sure if it's in there.
But the owners manuel should have it has yours got the electronic LED Bar gauge
          That monitors the engine.

It doesn't have a monitor installed at present. I intend installing one as soon as I can.

Sorry Dave, been through the manual, the control box manual and the seloc.
And theres nothing about the differant warning tones and what they are suposed to mean.

But my guess is, its telling you theres no water up to your flow switch until after start.

              Cheers.
