    Barra on the bite

I was on the front patio respooling a reel, when old mate goes past.
    Coming fishing he says?
Nah! its raining, and I'am servicing my gear says I.
Half an hour later, he drops in ... lost 4 got 1.
    12KG---102cm.

Must have only been in the salt for a short while. Otherwise that tail would be nice and yellow and no dark ridge in the back.

Regardless, I'm no the one with the barra!

    Well done!

    Cheers

Hi guys, a few details for you. Barra was caught at the mouth of the Saltwater River. (rivers name) About an hour north of Cairns NQ, 15 minutes north of Port Douglas.

We've had a lot of rain lately, and this guy was probably washed out of the upper reaches about 5k's upstream. there was a school of them smashing bait on the corner where the beach meets the river mouth.
He was caught from the bank, on lure, small baitcaster,20lb braid. Took 50 meters on the first run. Well done Matt (Ace fisherman, in photo).
