After all the rain that we had recently and the dam rising about six foot since the previous weekend, saw the dam changing once again and new areas to try.
I went up on Sunday with a friend and fished gentlemen's hours and was greeted by some really warm weather.
We hit a few spots, having many smaller fish come out and attack our Boney Breams and 130mm Slick Rigs Pro in Evil Minnow colour. Most of the spots we hit I threw the Slick Rigs around as I have heard so much about these lures from the dams down south, I could not see why they wouldn't work up here at Tinaroo. I will be using these lures more frequently now, especially after weekends results and as the water has risen and weed beds have sunken requiring some deeper lure work. I was fishing alot of grassy banks that had been freshly covered with the rising water.
We made a move and hit some moving water and had multiple solid hits before I struck gold on a bomber worked down the fastest section of the water. After a nice tussle a 109cm beauty came to the boat.
We went back to the same section a couple of hours later and I hooked up again to a solid fish on about the 20th cast to the same rock, but lost it due to a careless error.
The grassy banks entertained us most of the day, with some extremely agressive strikes on the Slick Rigs, one fish pictured gave me first thoughts of a metery the way it hit.
All in all it was a fun day with many laughs thrown in.
Cheers Matt
