Gavin, try & borrow a newer chip from someone first & see if it functions OK. The plotter runs on C-Map NT Max. Go through the 550 manual & see if there is a setup procedure. Also contact the selling dealer & pump him for info.

ahhhh the map i have is a c-map nt+ maybe it does not work in the newer units , my father has the same map as i have now so i will borrow that and try it just to make sure my map isnt stuffed. If his map works that meens mine is stuffed and if his fails to work then i need the newer map.If my map is stuffed can you get them repaired or do you have to buy a new one?

    Re: C_MAP Problems!!!

I just bought a new chip for my Seiwa Oyster--and found out that the old Oyster sounders will not read the new chips because they do not have enough memory to store all the info. I had a chip specially prepared--cost about the same as the chip for the whole of Australia which would have fitted the new Seiwa. Eventually I will scrape up the cash for a new one-- instead I have two chips which do the East coast of Oz up to somewhere north of Cooktown.

Sometimes the chips need the contacts cleaning and the contacts in the plotter can need cleaning too. Of course different plotters may have different bits to my old thing.
