I just looked at the weather thinking to head out for afternoon trip but its now off the cards. Seabreeze banana Banks went from 5kts to 37kt in 15 minutes.
I would hate to out there now.

yea, we were out there this morning, absolute pearler of a day, but we headed in as soon as we felt the first sniff of the change.
Yep, was working at Doomben today, one minute it was a little whiff of a breeze on a stinking hot day, the next minute the airport was obscured by a dust storm and we had sun umbrellas turned inside out and a couple where the poles just snapped. Was incredible.
Sure was a cracker of a day out on the bay!
We were heading back to Pinkenba doing 50km'h and ran into the front about 1 N/E M8.
We knew it was coming, and we saw it a long way off, but it sure hit with a bang! and it was on with the wet weather gear, the bilge too, and back right off the power.... sure was a slog back to Pinkenba in that mess!
I can confirm it was blowing its tits off out there! and within minutes of it hitting it was about 1.3 - 1.5 mtrs of total mess coming from the South.
The washing machine at the rally the other week was lightweight in comparison.
It was as rough as a bears arse out there!
Cheers
Jim

when you men do here these weather reports do youl give any allowance for change as this seems too great to try and predict
For me, this forecast (and the result) underscores the the fantastic service provided by the weather people. Sure, there are many times they dont get it exactly right, but overall they are usually close.
Sat morning was a classic example of contemplating a spur-of-the-moment jaunt over to Tangalooma with the better half for a R&R trip. After a look at seabreeze & bom - no way.
So to those often maligned weather people .. thank you.

Well we were doing a family boating trip in the Pine. A one hour shake out in our new AMM 5.5 Cuddy. Really just to practice launch etc.... The Poly 5.3 has gone to a new home. Any way we went under the hornibrook bridge and the bay was glass. We paused to change a sounder setting and in a immediate gust of wind the Bay went from calm to white caps! Huge change for sure... We ran around in the slop playing test the boat for a few minutes then back into the river.
Most instentaneous change I have seen on the bay thats for sure
I was out off noosa headland when the change came through.
It was absolutely amazing.
There was this thin low flying cloud running perpendicular to the headland. On the northern side of it there was the lite NW winds that had been blowing in the morning, and on the south was the southerly wind which was quickly heading north.
I drove my boat across the clould line from north to south and it was like flicking a switch. All of a sudden we were in 30+ knot winds. Didn't take long before the decision was made to do a 180 and hightail it back to the noosa river. I feel sorry for anyone who was caught out wide when the change came through it was extremely sudden and severe.
