Just finished reading Depth Sounder Secrets - Rick Huckstepp, and i must say it is an absolutely awesome read.
For the novice the book is filled with a lot of colour illistrations and very basic terminology that everyone can read and understand with out saying "what".
It answers all your basic questions about your sounder from how to set it up with your sounders options and then how to interpret what you see on the screen.
Go out and buy this book now if you want to learn to catch fish

Yea, scanned in the shops BVUT really looking for his DVD, about 50 mins (not like the cheaper 10 min ones) and costs about $25 but BIAS stopped selling it and haven't seen it since to buy - anyone know where to get it?

Yep mate i'll second that it is an awesome book. I took my boat out yesterday witht he soudner after reading the book and following the tips. I was able to have my sounder work twice as well (mainly by turning off the auto-gain/sensitivity setting as recommended by the book and setting this manually close to 90-95% on my Garmin FF140) and I was suprised how much more detail could be seen on the bottom, and for the first time I actually say some really prominent full fish arches! Great book and well worth the $15. I got mine from BCF too. I think I even saw the DVD there too at the slacks creek branch, but you might want to ring em first to check as I'm not 100% sure... but I remember thinking which one to get while I was there so maybe I did spot it
