    I eat them but the missus wont. Taste pretty good. Dont they call Stargazers "poor mans lobster" as well?

    Red rockies, the little ones are a pain but the big ones are definitely worth the effort for the table.
    Not the tastiest, but certainly perfect flaky white fillets. Yum!

    I use to get abalone for my own tucker down at Fishermans Bay near Port Stephens (NSW) , use to spear a few of these red rock cod for a local chinese restaurant in Newcastle about 20 years ago in return for curry king prawns and rice. I've also cooked my own in seawater direct from the ocean. Prawns, muddies and blueswimmers all taste great when cooked in ocean seawater and not river water. Bloody beautiful, Peter
